Overview of the Role

The Head of Security Engineering and Architecture is a pivotal and strategic role tasked with directing the organization's security engineering initiatives and spearheading the architectural design of comprehensive security frameworks. This position demands extensive technical knowledge in security protocols, system architecture, and engineering, along with strong leadership skills to guide a team of proficient security engineers and architects. A key responsibility of this role is the management and execution of our security tools.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Direct and oversee the Security Engineering and Architecture team, ensuring excellence in all facets of security systems and infrastructure.
  2. Design and implement advanced security strategies and frameworks to safeguard digital assets, including proprietary information, organizational data, and client details.
  3. Manage the security configuration of our suite of Microsoft Defender products, zScaler, and other security solutions.
  4. Lead multi-year Data Loss Prevention (DLP) initiatives, encompassing both technology and program-level deliverables.
  5. Guide the technical direction for development, design, and systems integration across various client projects from the definition phase through to implementation.
  6. Utilize expertise in cybersecurity engineering to devise innovative solutions for complex technical challenges.
  7. Stay informed on the latest security technologies, cryptographic methods, and the evolving threat landscape.
  8. Assess, recommend, and advocate for appropriate security technologies and tools to strengthen the organization's defensive posture.
  9. Conduct and supervise regular security evaluations and code reviews to verify the effectiveness of security measures.
  10. Design and manage the implementation of integrated systems, ensuring that architecture and security controls align with business risk tolerance and regulatory standards.
  11. Create technical and architectural documentation to support enterprise-wide security solutions.
  12. Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to synchronize security engineering and architectural strategies with organizational objectives.
  13. Mentor and cultivate the Security Engineering and Architecture team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  2. Professional security management certification is highly desirable (CISSP, CISM, etc.).
  3. Expert knowledge of the Microsoft Security suite of products.
  4. Familiarity with zScaler and other cloud-based technologies.
  5. At least 10 years of experience in risk management, information security, and IT roles.
  6. Minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity managing security engineering or architecture teams.
  7. Understanding of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST.
  8. Strong comprehension of the business implications of security tools, technologies, and policies.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to business leaders and business concepts to IT personnel.
