CNC Set-up Operator Job Description

At ALMAG, we are seeking a highly skilled CNC Set-up Operator to join our Fabrication Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for organizing and setting up manufacturing equipment to produce finished goods to specification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC machines and other equipment in the Fabrication Department, ensuring efficient and cost-effective production while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
  • Make adjustments to machining programs as required to ensure accurate and precise production.
  • Fabricate parts based on fabrication drawings, adhering to work order specifications and packing instructions.
  • Perform daily PM checks and ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  • Read and follow all notes in the computer system (Epics) to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Verify first piece samples with other plant personnel to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure all work order data is correct and material is identified before production.
  • Verify incoming materials meet specifications before proceeding with fabrication.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and ensure timely order completion.
  • Comply with all quality-related policies, procedures, and system requirements.
  • Operate a forklift, if certified and approved by the company, to assist with tasks.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma and relevant production experience is desirable.
  • Some education in CNC is considered a strong asset.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in CNC Set-Up/Machine Operation.

Technical Skills/Competence:

  • Good team building and motivational skills.
  • Strong command of English, written and oral, with the ability to train other employees.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and ability to read drawings.
  • Ability to work well with numbers is essential.
  • Solid understanding of CNC machines, precision measuring instruments, and Mastercam software.
  • Experience with Epics is considered an asset.
  • Forklift license is an asset.
