Physician Associate

At Island Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Associate Physician to join our team. As an Associate Physician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Job SummaryThe Associate Physician will work under the supervision of an Attending Physician and will be responsible for assessing and treating patients, ordering diagnostics, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and compassionate individual to develop their clinical skills and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and treat patients, including history and physical, medical orders, and certification under the Mental Health Act
- Order and follow up on diagnostics, complete disposition and discharge planning
- Collaborate with Attending Physicians to ensure appropriate care and decision-making
- Perform procedures within scope of competence, including procedural sedation, anxiolysis, and analgesia
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers in a culturally sensitive and compassionate manner
- Proficient English communication skills
- Effective and efficient computer and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team-based environment and under the leadership of an assigned leader
- Physical ability to carry out duties, including evening and overnight shifts
During a 12-week probationary period, the Associate Physician will undergo assessment and evaluation of their competence to perform duties in the intended specialty areas under a Medical Leader. The evaluation will include assessment of basic clinical skills, communication skills, and the ability to function as a member of a clinical team.
Ongoing employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period and subject to six and 12-month reviews and annual reviews thereafter.
