Geotechnical Engineer Opportunity at WSP

WSP is a leading professional services firm that enhances the world around us. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering and Materials Team based in Prince George.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering and experience in preparing proposals, cost estimates, and project timelines. They will also have the ability to lead the planning, field support, and completion of geotechnical site investigations, as well as perform all aspects of geotechnical investigations for various projects.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis and be registered or eligible to be registered as a P.Eng. with EGBC. They will also have a minimum of four years of relevant experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, Geomechanics Engineer, or related position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting monitoring information from geotechnical instrumentation and testing programs, providing geotechnical design recommendations and parameters for analyses and design of structure foundations, and working collaboratively with engineering staff on geotechnical consulting projects.

WSP offers a competitive salary range of $80,800 - $111,100, depending on experience and qualifications. The final salary awarded for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and project timelines
  • Lead the planning, field support, and completion of geotechnical site investigations
  • Perform all aspects of geotechnical investigations for various projects
  • Review and interpret monitoring information from geotechnical instrumentation and testing programs
  • Provide geotechnical design recommendations and parameters for analyses and design of structure foundations
  • Work collaboratively with engineering staff on geotechnical consulting projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as a P.Eng. with EGBC
  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, Geomechanics Engineer, or related position
  • Knowledge of standard geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, or other similar software suites
  • Valid BC Driver's License
