About the Opportunity

The University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream position in Emerging Technologies in Theatre and Performance at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This appointment is part of our ongoing efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive community of scholars.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and teaching in the area of Emerging Technologies in Theatre and Performance, with a focus on performance and technology, critical methodologies, and theory.
  • Develop and lead courses in drama and performance studies, with a focus on emerging technologies and their implications for theatre and performance.
  • Contribute to the development of the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies, including participating in departmental and faculty-wide initiatives.
  • Engage in service to the university and the broader academic community, including peer review, editorial work, and other forms of scholarly service.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Drama and Performance Studies or a related field.
  • Established research program in performance and technology, with a focus on emerging technologies and their implications for theatre and performance.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Strong commitment to anti-racist and equity-based research and pedagogy, with a focus on Indigenous, post-colonial, critical race, feminist, or queer thought.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in leading research projects and securing external funding.
  • Publication record in top-tier journals and presses.
  • Experience in developing and leading courses in drama and performance studies, with a focus on emerging technologies and their implications for theatre and performance.
