Job Summary
The Millwright position at Lafarge Canada Inc. is a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the plant and site. As a Millwright, you will work together with other millwrights, electricians, welders, and production workers to accomplish assigned work tasks.
Responsibilities
- Participate in plant safety initiatives, including risk assessments and incident reporting.
- Complete scheduled work on-time and provide feedback for work improvements.
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices, such as cranes, forklifts, and tractors, to position machinery and parts during installation, set-up, and repair.
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
Requirements
- Industrial/Mining plant operational experience.
- Welding and fitting skills.
- Minimum 3 years experience in maintenance.
- Heavy Equipment Operation an asset.
- Action-oriented, organizing, priority setting, process management, and written communication skills.
- Specific mobile equipment training and mechanical aptitude.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Working outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions.
- Working indoors in varied conditions (hot, noisy, dusty).
- Rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
- Mobility through all areas of the plant required, including stairs and ladders.
- Regular bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting less than 50 lbs.
- Working at heights and confined spaces.
