The primary objective of the Agricultural Risk Management Specialist role is to advocate for the utilization of business risk management initiatives that are part of the Federal/Provincial Agricultural Policy Framework.
These initiatives serve to offer production risk safeguards against unavoidable natural disasters. This position oversees all facets of Agricultural Insurance accounts throughout the farming season.Key Responsibilities:
Promoting, selling, enrolling, monitoring, verifying, regulating, and processing all data to finalize files and submit claims for payment.
Specific Duties Include:
- Advocating for the program and enrolling all producers interested in the AgriInsurance initiatives by the stipulated deadlines as outlined in the AgriInsurance Agreement.
- Providing producers with a comprehensive overview of the programs to identify which plan best aligns with their farming operations based on specific risks and requirements, and how each program may interact or overlap.
- Calculating insurance estimates to present all potential coverage options and extended program choices.
- Conducting field assessments of all insured crops to evaluate establishment and overall plant health, ensuring adherence to proper management practices and deadlines.
- Verifying producer-reported field acreage by measuring fields using GPS technology.
- Identifying insurable and non-insurable risks.
- Completing claims and production documentation by analyzing and computing collected data.
- Preparing paperwork and supporting documentation for management verification and payment processing.
- Physically sampling grains, beans, and other crops to ascertain volumes, densities, and moisture levels for accurate production calculations and/or indemnity payments where applicable.
- Sampling insured potatoes during the harvest period to assess crop quality and marketability.
- Measuring storage bins and warehouses as required by the programs.
- Ensuring compliance with the AgriInsurance Agreement.
- Performing other duties as necessary.
