Position Title: Billing Clerk
Department: Finance
Job Location: Ontario - Newmarket (In Office)
Reports to: Controller
JOB PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Controller, the Billing Clerk plays a vital role in facilitating the billing operations at Medicentres, particularly in relation to physician payments and OHIP billing.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Direct Reports: N/A
Financial: Aids in the reconciliation of all billing and payment activities, including investigations and analyses.
Other: N/A
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist physicians with billing inquiries and provide necessary training.Guide newly hired physicians in completing essential documentation for credentialing and OHIP group billing enrollment.Analyze coding errors or billing discrepancies to identify trends and suggest process enhancements or corrective measures.Develop automated systems to monitor physician billing practices, aiding in the formulation of communication strategies for physicians.Engage in continuous education regarding updates to provincial health billing regulations.Meet with individual physicians to explore opportunities for billing improvement.Communicate billing changes and updates to physicians and operational teams.Serve as a backup during absences, focusing on physician payroll, WCB claim submissions, and processing third-party invoices.Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned.Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with Ontario Physicians.Support the onboarding and training of physicians on billing practices.And other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Proficient understanding of OHIP billing is essential.Basic knowledge of healthcare billing processes is advantageous.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Exhibit a professional and mature approach to customer service.Strong organizational skills with a keen aptitude for numbers and statistics.Detail-oriented with strong analytical capabilities.Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively.Proficient in understanding databases, system flows, and processes.EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:Post-secondary degree or diploma in finance or a related discipline.CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT: The role operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, multitasking, and meeting strict deadlines are critical.
