About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Credit Risk Manager to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Credit Risk team, you will be responsible for exercising sound credit judgment and providing quality underwriting decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Effectively analyze credit submissions, financial disclosures, and pertinent documentation within risk tolerances.
  2. Apply advanced credit judgment, usage of the applicable five C's of credit, and ensure consistent application of policies and processes are analyzed and documented.
  3. Adjudicate within established limits and exception authority and present quality recommendations on requests above established limits.
  4. Calculate financial ratios, identify appropriate credit conditions and security while understanding business and economic trends.
  5. Analyze credit reviews and apply corrective action where appropriate.
  6. Ensure all partner interactions are professional, respectful, and value-added.
  7. Provide recommendations/alternative solutions, and restructure credit requests, with coaching/direction to partners as required.
  8. Act with a sense of urgency in response to partner requests to meet customer expectations.
  9. Deliver against established ACE Service Level Agreement targets.
  10. Contribute to the growth and quality of the Small Business Credit portfolio.
  11. Clearly identify risks and exceptions using strong rationale and associated mitigants to support the decision.
  12. Operate within the Bank's risk appetite and culture in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  13. Maintain acceptable application review ratings from internal quality assurance and audit.
Requirements
  1. A comprehensive knowledge of Scotiabank's Small Business products and services.
  2. An expert understanding of Scotiabank's lending policies and procedures, financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit structuring, collateral and security documentation and registration.
  3. Intermediate accounting and financial statement analysis.
  4. Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
  5. Strong team player and skillful in developing harmonious relationships with Unit team members and stakeholders.
  6. Strong communication skills, written and verbal, to produce informative, concise and professional credit replies, presentations, and correspondence.
  7. Ability to communicate in English and French to work closely with other groups from head office who operate primarily in English.
  8. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently to meet the demands of a high-volume work environment.
