Opportunity

MacEwan University's Professional Health Education Unit is seeking a qualified instructor to teach in the Gerontology and Hospice Palliative Care post-diploma certificate programs. These programs are designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality care to older adults.

Program Overview

The Gerontology and Hospice Palliative Care programs are highly regarded for their academic excellence and practical application. Course topics include:

  • Dementia care and management
  • Health promotion and disease prevention in older adults
  • Pain assessment and management in palliative care
  • Palliative symptoms and management
  • Effective communication in gerontology and palliative care
  • Leadership and management in gerontology and palliative care
  • Ethics in gerontology and palliative care

Courses are scheduled to run on campus once or twice per week and follow the MacEwan University Academic Calendar. We are seeking candidates with recent clinical and/or teaching experience in gerontology and palliative care.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering high-quality course content
  • Assessing student learning and providing feedback
  • Collaborating with program staff and faculty to ensure program excellence
  • Staying current with best practices in gerontology and palliative care

Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must have:

  • A master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. gerontology, nursing, social work)
  • Recent clinical and/or teaching experience in gerontology and palliative care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
