Executive Director & Curator

Seeking a visionary leader to drive the Canadian Automotive Museum into its next chapter of preserving and sharing Canada's rich automotive heritage.

The Board of Directors is looking for a talented and innovative individual to be its new Executive Director and Curator, responsible for achieving the Museum's mission through strategic planning, resource optimization, and operational management.

The Canadian Automotive Museum is a premier institution dedicated to showcasing the world's most significant collection of Canadian cars and the Glenn H. Baechler Canadian Automotive Research Library.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Organizational Leadership: Provide expert guidance to the Board on all aspects of the organization's activities. Collaborate with the Board in developing strategic plans.
  2. Operations Management: Ensure that Museum policies are developed, implemented, and maintained. Recommend changes to the Board and provide leadership for the development and maintenance of the Museum's infrastructure.
  3. Programming: Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of public and educational programs, permanent and special exhibits, and services.
  4. Collections Management: Maintain and oversee the Collections Management and Record Keeping Policies. Curate the Museum, library, and archives collections, ensuring their development, preservation, documentation, and interpretation.
  5. Community Relationships / Advocacy: Foster partnerships and collaborations with other institutions and the community. Develop and communicate human resource policies, procedures, and practices.
  6. Risk Management: Identify, evaluate, and implement measures to control risks to the Museum's people, property, collections, finances, goodwill, and image.
  7. Experience in planning and leading staff, managing budgets, writing successful grant proposals, and managing projects.
  8. Experience in curating significant collections.
  9. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
