Position: Director – Security, Privacy, and Risk - Cybersecurity Testing

To effectively meet the pressing demands of our clients, RSM Canada Operations ULC has formed the Security, Privacy, and Risk Consulting division, consisting of over 250 dedicated professionals focused exclusively on addressing the cybersecurity requirements of our clientele. This division includes seasoned consultants located nationwide, committed to assisting clients in preventing, detecting, and responding to security threats that could impact their critical systems and data. We cater to a diverse range of industries and are trusted to deliver expertise in security testing, operations, architecture, governance, compliance, and digital forensics.

We are seeking to appoint a seasoned Director for our Cybersecurity Testing team within the Security, Privacy, and Risk practice. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of various penetration testing and red team methodologies and tools, coupled with a strong passion for identifying vulnerabilities and potential security risks. This role is pivotal in aiding our clients to prevent, detect, and respond to security threats that may compromise their critical systems and data. The Director will advance the firm’s mission to cultivate a world-class consulting practice that provides RSM Canada Operations ULC clients with solutions addressing Information Technology security risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance our cybersecurity testing practice through team expansion and skill enhancement.
  • Oversee and mentor managers and staff during the delivery of technical services to ensure quality outcomes while facilitating staff development.
  • Utilize proven business development skills to attract new clients and strengthen relationships with existing ones.
  • Identify business opportunities and refine go-to-market strategies.
  • Effectively communicate with clients regarding the strategic and tactical risks posed by advanced security threats, the methods employed by malicious actors, and potential preventative solutions.
  • Translate complex technical issues for client senior management, creating layman-friendly reports and presentations.
  • Leverage industry and technical expertise to pinpoint improvement opportunities for assigned clients and assist in developing remediation services for identified issues.
  • Ensure revenue targets are met and that client service offerings adapt to the evolving business landscape.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Extensive background and technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: application development, networking/system administration, penetration testing, red team operations, security architecture, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience conducting both manual and automated penetration testing on web applications, network devices, and other systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS, and knowledge of cloud security best practices.
  • Proven track record of leading and expanding a cybersecurity team.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients in a dynamic environment across various technology stacks and services, including cloud platforms and development technologies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and a successful history of identifying and securing new service opportunities and guiding them through the sales cycle.
  • Ability to identify and address client needs, fostering meaningful relationships and understanding their business.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a successful history of operating within a professional services firm or large consultancy.
  • Proven collaborative abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as Offensive Security Web Assessor (OSWA), Offensive Security Web Expert (OSWE), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), Burp Suite Certified Practitioner, AWS Certified Security Specialist, or GIAC certifications.
  • Industry thought leadership.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills; innovative thinker.
  • A proven record of success working effectively in a hybrid environment to complete projects with team members across various locations.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking, individual initiative, and flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks.

Compensation Range: $127,645 - $216,855. Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
