Service Manager Job Description

Brandt is seeking a Service Manager for our Halifax Construction & Forestry location.

The Service Manager will oversee the sales and delivery of heavy duty equipment after-market support services, including component diagnostics, repair, and replacement. This involves managing all aspects of the service department and day-to-day activities of foremen, leadmen, service writers, and shop, field, and resident heavy duty mechanics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage service workflow and ensure adherence to established standards and policies
  • Develop and manage the Service Department budget to meet financial and operational goals
  • Prepare quotes for customer work orders and open/close work orders
  • Inspect/operate customer equipment to resolve concerns and diagnose issues
  • Monitor service revenue and expenses monthly
  • Ensure work is performed according to established safety and industry standards
  • Review employee performance against goals on an ongoing basis
  • Maintain a high-performance Service team through hiring, training, coaching, mentoring, and performance management
Requirements
  • Effective communication and professionalism with customers, employees, and branch personnel at all levels
  • Self-motivation in learning and applying new knowledge and skills, with a willingness to share knowledge with others
  • Ability to travel to customer worksites and operate around heavy equipment
  • Proficiency in using work-related desktop applications and web-based productivity applications
  • Confidence, critical thinking, knowledge, and technical skills to assess and solve customer, business, and personnel problems effectively and efficiently
  • A recent driver's abstract will be required
