Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team at St. Catherine's Elementary School. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing our school's financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing financial reports to the Education Committee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable with precision
  • Conduct full general ledger accounting to ensure financial accuracy
  • Administer payroll and maintain meticulous financial records
  • Generate monthly financial reports for the Education Committee
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and oversee cash flow administration
  • Provide support for year-end accounting and audit preparation
  • Implement financial control measures to maintain compliance and accuracy
  • Release monthly tuition payments through BMO
  • Generate invoices for the school and after-school club
  • Produce T4s, yearly tuition receipts, and tax receipts
  • Serve as a liaison for staff benefits and pensions
  • Collaborate with the Parent Education Committee (PEC) on fundraising initiatives
  • Provide monthly reports to the PEC to track progress and outcomes
  • Assist in the preparation of preliminary and final budgets
  • Calculate the yearly 'magic number' for financial planning purposes
  • Facilitate weekly bank deposits and manage payroll deductions
Requirements
  • Knowledge of the CISVA School system is an asset
  • Strong accounting and financial management skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems
