Qualifications:The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge and skills:
- A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Technology, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a heavy civil construction setting.
- Extensive knowledge of earthworks, concrete, mining, and familiarity with heavy machinery.
- Comprehensive understanding of preparing estimates and budgets.
- Experience with contract and union labor agreements.
- Exceptional administrative skills, including outstanding organizational, communication, and people management abilities.
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly with scheduling software such as Primavera and Microsoft Project, as well as estimating software like InEight, Bid2win, HCSS, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, with the capability to create professional proposals and presentations.
- Experience working in a unionized environment and within the terms of collective agreements.
- Knowledge of standard Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and practices in the construction sector.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Proficiency in both English and French is considered an asset.
The responsibilities associated with this position may include but are not limited to:
- Providing support to ongoing projects to ensure that project goals are achieved.
- Reviewing and/or calculating quantity take-offs, developing material price lists, labor costs, equipment, etc.
- Examining project and contract specifications.
- Analyzing construction drawings and specifications to determine layouts of structures, systems, and material requirements.
- Reviewing and/or preparing scopes of work and soliciting pricing from suppliers.
- Reviewing and/or preparing tender documents, proposals, schedules, and estimates.
- Examining historical data such as purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.
- Compiling summary reports to develop guidelines and data for future work and estimates.
- Assisting in proposal presentations and reviews with clients.
- Maintaining estimating files for backup purposes.
- Assisting in monitoring budgets and estimates against actual cost data.
- Supporting and promoting the company's Quality Assurance Program.
- Other duties as required.
