We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Bus Driver to join our team at Pembina Trails School Division. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and other school-related activities.
Key Responsibilities- Under the direction of the Director of Transportation, provide safe and efficient transportation to students and staff.
- Carry out duties and act in accordance with laws, policies, procedures, and regulations as laid down by the Highway Traffic Act, the Public Schools Act, the Manitoba School Bus Driver's Handbook, and the policies and procedures of the Pembina Trails School Division.
- Maintain route and route map completely up-to-date and ensure both are in a conspicuous place in the assigned bus.
- Maintain orderly student conduct in the bus and report misconduct to the principal or designate of the school.
- Complete a daily pre-trip inspection of any assigned bus, immediately report any defects, and complete log book entries.
- Maintain the interior of any assigned vehicle in a clean and sanitary condition. Maintain the exterior as clean as weather conditions permit.
- Maintain fluid levels in any assigned vehicle and fuels buses as required.
- Report all accidents (students or vehicles) at the time of the accident.
- Conduct 'Bus Evacuation' drills.
- Complete required forms and reports.
- Attend all driver's meetings and workshops.
- Assist other transportation, maintenance, or caretaking personnel as required.
- Notify the Director of Transportation immediately of charges laid against the driver under the Highway Traffic Act or the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Notify the Director of Transportation immediately of any medical condition that would impair the driver's ability to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
- Must learn and use the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System.
- Current Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver's License.
- Training will be provided and paid for by the Division to obtain the School Bus Operator Certificate and the Class 2 Province of Manitoba Driver's License.
- Current Class 2 Province of Manitoba Driver's License would be an asset.
- Current Manitoba School Bus Driver's License would be an asset.
- An ability to understand the English language (written and spoken).
- An excellent driving record as evidenced by a Manitoba Driver's Abstract.
- Will be required to pass a practical driving examination as administered by the Director of Transportation.
- A minimum of one (1) year school bus driving experience would be an asset.
- Effective communication skills.
- Physical abilities as per the attached Physical Demands Analysis.
