Key Responsibilities:
The Infusion/Injection Nurse is responsible for delivering specialized infusion and injection therapies to patients with oncology, autoimmune, and rare diseases in outpatient or homecare settings. Effective communication and coordination are vital in providing exceptional service to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
Primary Duties Include:
- Administering medications via intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) routes.
- Supporting and monitoring IV infusion treatments in clinical environments.
- Documenting and reporting on post-injection and infusion activities in accordance with established protocols.
- Providing patient education tailored to individual needs or group settings.
- Ensuring consistent availability for appointment scheduling to facilitate timely access to therapies.
- Coordinating with patients, case managers, physicians, and other departments to meet scheduling timelines.
- Conducting administrative tasks such as clinic audits and supply management.
- Participating in regular consultations and training sessions with management to uphold professional standards.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals regarding product-specific educational programs.
- Adhering to nursing standards set by regulatory bodies and company policies.
- Performing additional related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Experience and Educational Background:
- At least 5 years of experience as a Registered Practical Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- 5 years of experience in administering IM/SC injections.
- 5 years of experience with IV therapy; IV initiation experience is an asset.
- Diploma or degree in nursing or a related field.
- Valid provincial nursing license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience in critical care, emergency, or homecare settings is preferred.
- Demonstrated customer service excellence in interactions with patients and healthcare teams.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Access to a home computer with internet connectivity and necessary office equipment.
- Flexibility to accommodate scheduled and last-minute patient appointments.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel within designated areas.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
