Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our Fund Tax Services team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for tax compliance and monthly, quarterly, and annual fund distributions. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our tax filings, including provincial sales tax, fund tax factors, and Canadian income tax returns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct tax research and ensure domestic and foreign compliance, mutual fund, and sales tax
  • Ensure the completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of fund tax department deliverables
  • Accurately calculate and oversee fund distributions and estimates
  • Complete and oversee tax filings, including provincial sales tax, fund tax factors, and Canadian income tax returns
  • Analyze product initiatives, such as mergers, rebalancing, and ad hoc requests
  • Liaise with various parties, including administrators, CRA, external auditors, tax advisors, investment managers, product managers, and internal departments
  • Focus on continuous development and process improvement
Requirements
  • Undergraduate accounting, finance, or equivalent degree
  • Accounting designation (CPA) or in process
  • Minimum 3 years fund taxation experience and financial services industry/mutual fund experience
  • Excellent team player
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent tax research, tax preparation, and analytic skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks and continuously prioritize work
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with departments across the organization
  • Desire to remain up to date with tax laws, regulations, and changes in the mutual fund industry
  • Willingness to learn new reporting systems and seek advancements/improvements in existing processes
