About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Art Therapist to join our team at the Red Fish Healing Centre. As an Art Therapist, you will play a key role in providing art therapy services to clients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate art therapy programs for clients, including assessing needs, creating intervention plans, and documenting care.
- Provide art therapy services, including encouraging clients to express emotions and explore thoughts through art, and promoting physical, psycho-social, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual health.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, exchange information, and adjust clients' intervention plans to ensure optimum patient care.
- Facilitate one-on-one and group programs, workshops, and individual mentoring in art to guide clients through the creative process and promote wellness, creativity, and personal growth.
- Evaluate program effectiveness, using information gathered by observation and client feedback, and compile feedback summaries for review.
Requirements
- Master of Arts Degree in Art Therapy from an accredited University.
- Two (2) years recent, related experience providing art therapy services, coaching, and group facilitation to individuals with mental illness or substance abuse issues.
- Eligibility for Registration with the British Columbia Art Therapy Association (BCATA).
- Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness, ability to facilitate workshops or groups, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to operate related equipment, plan, organize, and prioritize, and establish and maintain rapport with clients.
- Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, In Plain Sight, and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
