MISSION
As a Clinical Informatics Specialist, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative solutions leveraging real-world data. Utilize your clinical expertise and domain knowledge to enhance business analysis, ensuring that clinical context and workflows are prioritized. Act as a liaison between IT teams and clinical practitioners, facilitating the effective delivery of healthcare services. You will embody the role of a hybrid business analyst and clinical subject matter expert, focusing on areas such as clinical workflows, electronic health records, patient journeys, clinical decision support systems, and digital health, while also possessing experience in data and analytics.
Your role will involve assisting data teams in comprehending the context of the data, identifying potential discrepancies between the data and its applications, particularly regarding clinical decision support systems (CDSS) and other predictive analytics and machine learning applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As an accomplished clinical informaticist with substantial experience in direct patient care and the implementation of data-driven solutions, you will provide consultation on various topics, including clinical workflows and services, aimed at optimizing performance and enhancing utilization.
- Serve as an evaluator, consultant, and educator to enhance existing systems and workflows related to data and analytics solutions, such as clinical workflow optimization and clinical decision support systems.
- Engage in the analysis, design, implementation, and enhancement of clinical information systems, including electronic health records and registries.
- Integrate clinical knowledge with data and analytics to support healthcare delivery.
- Develop, maintain, and implement clinical decision support systems (CDSS) that provide real-time guidance and alerts to healthcare providers.
- Educate clinicians, staff, and stakeholders on the effective utilization of clinical information systems and CDSS to improve patient care and outcomes.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to clinical informatics and healthcare data analytics.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT AND COLLABORATION
- Grasp the complexities of real-world data use cases from both business and IT perspectives, developing a strategic approach to balance immediate benefits with long-term costs.
- Act as an ambassador for clinical informatics, emphasizing its significance to business stakeholders, IT domains, and senior leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in clinical care (e.g., RN, PA, NP, MD).
- Clinical practice experience, ideally in fields such as cardiovascular disease, oncology, or neurology.
- Master's or PhD in clinical informatics, with a focus on data science, AI, or machine learning systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience with clinical workflow integrations and the implementation of data-driven systems (CDSS).
- Familiarity with healthcare data interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR) and terminologies (e.g., SNOMED).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of patient privacy regulations, such as HIPAA and GDPR.
- Experience with various forms of real-world data (e.g., EHR, claims, registries).
- Ability to collaborate with IT development teams, translating business needs into technical requirements.
- Capacity to work independently, exercising discretion and sound judgment.
- Proven ability to foster collaboration and build positive relationships within an agile, matrixed, multinational organization.
