Position Overview:

The Town of Whitecourt is seeking a dedicated Infrastructure Services Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services Department. This permanent, full-time role is essential for supporting the engineering and management of municipal infrastructure projects.

Role Summary:

Reporting directly to the Infrastructure Services Manager, the successful candidate will engage in various engineering tasks, including conducting surveys, reviewing design and construction documentation, and performing inspections. The role also involves managing the Town's Pavement Management System and ensuring the integrity of sidewalk and pathway systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance the Town's Pavement Management System (PMS) and Sidewalk and Pathway Management System.
  • Conduct site surveys and collect data on municipal infrastructure assets, including roadways and utilities.
  • Support the Asset Manager and Development Engineer with asset management and GIS initiatives.
  • Perform field inspections for both Town-led and private development projects.
  • Provide technical assistance to various branches within the Infrastructure Services Department.
  • Prepare comprehensive tender packages for municipal projects.
  • Create and modify AutoCAD drawings and maps as required.
  • Evaluate technical proposals and prepare detailed engineering reports for review by committees or council.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering or a related field, or a diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in municipal infrastructure design and construction.
  • Experience with asset management and multi-year budget planning.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software, including AutoCAD and GIS applications.
