Job Title: Database Administrator

At Toronto Hydro Corporation, we are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Infrastructure Operations department, you will be responsible for implementing processes, systems, and projects that contribute to the efficient technical delivery of maintenance and improvement of our Database infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies, and internal control procedures, laws, and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on database management, performance tuning, capacity planning, troubleshooting, monitoring, and Disaster Recovery of Oracle 12c & 19c
  • Migrate and upgrade existing databases
  • Troubleshoot production issues
  • Install and configure new databases
  • Provide after-hours database support
  • Create, maintain, and test disaster recovery plans
  • Apply latest security patches and complete health checks
  • Document Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure compliance with architecture and security standards
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree or College diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • Minimum seven (7) years progressive experience in Database Administration
  • Mandatory experience with Oracle database administration on Unix (AIX preferred), performance tuning, RMAN, Grid Control, ASM, Physical/Logical DataGuard, and OEM 19c
  • Strong communication skills and technical writing skills for documenting operational support guides and Buildbooks
  • Analyze and solve problems, make sound decisions, innovate, manage small upgrade projects, work collaboratively, demonstrate drive and commitment, and use technical/functional expertise
