The Respiratory Inpatient unit is a specialized 32-bed facility dedicated to managing patients with various respiratory conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, pneumonia, and other complex medical issues. Our multidisciplinary team includes physicians, registered nurses, practical nurses, patient care assistants, dietitians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, discharge planners, social workers, respiratory therapists, speech language pathologists, chaplains, unit clerks, and volunteers. Each team member plays a vital role in ensuring integrated and exceptional care for every patient and their families.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will serve as a professional caregiver, responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in alignment with the philosophy, policies, and standards set forth by the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), and applicable legislation.
Required Qualifications:
• Valid Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Additional educational qualifications or certifications as mandated by the department
• Membership in a relevant professional nursing association
• Proficiency in current software applications
• Commitment to professional development for oneself and others
• Dedication to Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service principles
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
• Ability to work independently within the defined scope of practice
• Strong problem-solving, communication (both oral and written), conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
• Excellent organizational capabilities
• Comprehensive understanding of the nursing process and professional responsibilities
• Willingness to collaborate and learn from other members of the patient care team to promote a robust Interprofessional model of care
Candidates must possess a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and demonstrate a history of strong job performance and attendance.
Please note that as a Regional Health Centre, our operations are continuous, necessitating availability for weekdays, weekends, and all shifts, including days, evenings, and nights.
