Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Paint Kitchen Technician to join our team. As a Paint Kitchen Technician, you will be responsible for preparing paint by adding solvents to reduce strength and supplying the paint line. Our paint line is first in class in the industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare paint by adding solvents to raw paint and ensure proper viscosity;
  • Flush and clean paint systems to run multiple colours;
  • Receive paint, solvents shipments and supplies and store in proper place and rotate stock;
  • Collect reclaimed solvents and ensure that it is pumped into waste totes and shipped out;
  • Supply and maintain 26 permanent paints system, clears, ad pro and catalysts;
  • Interchange piggable systems which use multiple colours;
  • Record paint load into a log recording system;
  • Record purge solvent usage and reclaimed solvent usage on daily usage sheet;
  • Perform daily viscosity checks and record on viscosity check sheet
  • Order solvents, filters and paint kitchen supplies as required;
  • Change all paint system filters;
  • Perform weekly system flushes as assigned by paint management;
  • Ensure all pumps and agitators are running and well-oiled;
  • Maintain lift trucks by using a daily check list;
  • Change totes and ensure grounding straps are used when transferring paint from drum to drum, and using lift trucks and agitators ;
  • Check paint schedule to ensure that required paint is available;
  • Report any health and safety issues to supervisors and or process techs;
  • Empty all solvent drums before putting them on skids for removal;
  • Ensure all pails are properly labeled to avoid confusion of contents; (WHMIS labels);
Requirements
  • Seek a team approach perspective when required;
  • Good communication, painting, safety conscious and organizational skills;
  • Ability to lift heavy drums of paint and to learn different shades of paint.
