SMS Equipment Inc. is seeking qualified professionals to fill the role of Heavy Equipment Technician with Journeyperson certification. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing advanced earthmoving machinery, ensuring operational efficiency while prioritizing safety standards. Your expertise will be vital in sustaining the performance of our equipment and supporting the industry.

The work schedule for this position follows a 14x14 rotation.

The compensation for this role is $58.05 per hour, which includes the base pay and potential additional premiums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting assemblies, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on heavy machinery.
  • Utilizing diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
  • Providing repair recommendations and suggesting enhancements.
  • Reading and interpreting technical manuals and work orders.
  • Completing required job-specific documentation.
  • Maintaining a strong emphasis on workplace safety.
  • Exhibiting motivation to work in challenging conditions with minimal oversight.
  • Being prepared to work in adverse weather and manage physically demanding tasks.

Candidate Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification. Additional qualifications include an Interprovincial Red Seal, a strong commitment to safety, experience in heavy machinery maintenance, effective communication skills, and a valid Class 5 driver's license. Familiarity with Komatsu equipment is also preferred.

Applicants must fulfill specific customer worksite access requirements, including a pre-employment medical examination, drug and alcohol screening, employment verification, and a driver's abstract.
