About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and caring ECE Assistant to join our team at Horizon School Inc. As an ECE Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our childcare programs and ensuring the well-being and development of our young learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess children's development and create personalized learning plans to meet their needs.
  • Assist colleagues with housekeeping and cooking duties, maintaining a clean and safe environment for children.
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, providing essential care and attention.
  • Develop and implement engaging child-care programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Maintain daycare equipment and ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Engage children in activities through storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts, fostering creativity and imagination.
  • Guide children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, promoting independence and self-care.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, ensuring a smooth daily routine.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral issues and prepare reports for parents or supervisors.
  • Submit written observations to early childhood educators or supervisors, maintaining open communication.
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, ensuring a collaborative approach to childcare.
Requirements
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a childcare setting.
  • Basic security clearance, criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, immunization records, and Vulnerable Sector check.
  • Own transportation or access to public transportation.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, with repetitive tasks and attention to detail.
