Our Edmonton Zone Continuing Care team provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services, and Palliative Care.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will assess patients, develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans, and monitor their progress. This role requires collaboration with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes, as well as educating patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment, and treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients and develop respiratory therapy care plans
  • Implement respiratory therapy services in accordance with regulatory and AHS practice standards
  • Collaborate with clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding respiratory health
  • Train and assist healthcare providers in the use and care of respiratory diagnostic and therapeutic equipment

Requirements:

  • Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)
  • Graduate from a registered school of Respiratory Therapy
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Strong communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team members, clients, and their families

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Continuing Care setting
  • Meditech and Connect Care Experience
  • Palliative care experience
  • Knowledge of the RAI
