Guidewire Developer

CB Canada is seeking a skilled Guidewire Developer to contribute to a high-visibility software project in Toronto.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with configuration/functional analysts to design and develop innovative solutions within the Guidewire platform. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating custom integration points, connecting Guidewire applications with both internal and external systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and unit test configuration solutions within the Guidewire environment.
  • Configure screen layouts, including the creation of new screens to enhance user experience.
  • Develop business rules and implement other business logic using GOSU scripting language.
  • Configure operational parameters such as roles, permissions, user attributes, regions, and more.
  • Collaborate with analysts to design and develop solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents effectively.
  • Contribute to the improvement and adherence to established practices, processes, and guidelines within the development team.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience with Guidewire Claim Centre / Contact Manager, utilizing Guidewire Studio.
  • 5+ years of experience developing n-tier web applications using Java and Java-based application frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design principles.
  • Strong knowledge of server-side Java technologies such as JSP, JSF, Servlets, EJB, JDBC, JMS, WebSphere, Tomcat, Docker, Openshift/Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Eclipse, IBM RAD, IBM RTC, and Toad.
  • Familiarity with open-source frameworks and tools such as Hibernate, Ivy, Ant, and Maven.
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Microservices architecture is a significant asset.
  • Insurance industry knowledge is beneficial.
  • Experience with Oracle 11+, PLSQL, and database performance tuning is an advantage.
