Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the project achieves or surpasses its financial targets by monitoring each development phase.
  • Facilitate daily and weekly meetings with the construction manager, area superintendents, and project engineers to establish methods, schedule contracting needs, and manage long lead times.
  • Oversee all field operations and work sequences in collaboration with the Construction Manager.
  • Analyze project estimates or plans to determine job costs, project procedures, staffing needs, and resource allocation for various project phases.
  • Review and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow forecasts, as well as negotiate change orders.
  • Anticipate project requirements in advance to prevent production delays.
  • Establish work plans and staffing for each project phase, working closely with HR to manage relationships with staff and craft personnel.
  • Formulate and lead an effective project management team, defining and delegating responsibilities while setting clear goals.
  • Address unexpected technical challenges and other issues that may arise.
  • Communicate effectively with department leads regarding work scopes.
  • Ensure that the construction manager and project superintendents execute work as required.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and production standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee project closeout by finalizing paperwork, securing retainages, supporting supervisors, and expediting claims.

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in a construction or engineering-related field, or a relevant combination of training and experience.
  • Over 10 years of experience in construction and/or project management within the industrial or hydroelectric sectors.
  • Familiarity with technical drawing systems and planning & reporting tools.
  • Ability to manage unionized workers or subcontractors effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Goal-oriented with a proven ability to set and achieve objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate and persuade individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Compliance with applicable laws, codes, and regulations for required work.
  • Demonstrated logical written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
