Job Summary

CapitalCare is seeking a highly motivated and organized Recreation Therapy Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our care services team, you will provide person-centered care and support to our residents, working closely with our Recreation Therapist and Care Manager to deliver a range of therapeutic recreational activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on assistance and support to residents in various therapeutic recreational activities, including pet therapy, computers, and horticulture.
  • Plan and lead activities, special events, and create monthly recreational calendars in collaboration with the Recreation Therapist.
  • Work closely with the Recreation Therapist to develop and implement individualized recreation plans that meet the needs and interests of our residents.
  • Assist with the coordination of recreation services, including scheduling, transportation, and equipment management.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to recreation services, including attendance, participation, and feedback.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized Recreation Therapy Diploma program (or equivalent) is required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Recent experience working with residents with dementia is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a day program or a continuing care setting is preferred.
  • Personal competencies include a beginner level of Microsoft Office application experience, basic knowledge of dementia, and the ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
