Role Overview

As the Chief Risk Data Strategist, you will play a crucial role in our mission. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure an exceptional customer experience while effectively managing risk as we expand our offerings. This position requires a strong foundation in data science techniques and tools, coupled with a deep understanding of product dynamics and a commitment to enhancing user interactions while mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze extensive and intricate data sets to address complex challenges related to customer behavior and risk assessment using various analytical methodologies.
  • Design and enhance models for risk evaluation and underwriting to improve decision-making frameworks and maintain effective risk oversight.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and define metrics for success and risk management safeguards.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers to synchronize risk assessment initiatives with overarching business objectives and present insights to senior leadership.
  • Oversee controlled experiments (e.g., A/B/n testing) from conception through to data collection, impact evaluation, audience selection, and result interpretation.
  • Engage with fellow data professionals to exchange knowledge and contribute to the development of our internal data infrastructure and culture.
  • Conduct exploratory analyses and provide data-driven recommendations to enhance risk management and underwriting processes.
  • Stay informed about industry developments and advancements in data science, risk assessment, and underwriting to continuously improve our capabilities.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in data science or analytics.
  • Solid understanding of risk management and underwriting within a fintech environment.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data science applications and SQL.
  • Ability to create and refine algorithms for risk decision-making.
  • Experience in designing and analyzing experiments and A/B/n tests.
  • Proven experience in conducting comprehensive statistical analyses (modeling, causality, regression, etc.).
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects with cross-functional teams while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex statistical insights to a business audience.
  • Familiarity with effective data visualization techniques and tools.
  • Basic knowledge of dbt (data transformation tool) is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with experimentation platforms such as Statsig, Optimizely, or similar.
  • Background in startups, particularly in B2C fintech, is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses, specifically Snowflake.
  • Genuine interest in the potential of Bitcoin and decentralized finance.
