POSITION OVERVIEW
We are in search of a physiotherapist to become a vital member of our Neuromotor team. This specialized team focuses on children with neuromotor disorders, such as cerebral palsy, up to the age of 18.
To address these intricate needs, our services encompass assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and intervention from a range of disciplines, including medicine, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and psychology. Our professionals collaborate closely with community partners to ensure a seamless continuum of care. This role demands adaptability, as the candidate will work both independently and in conjunction with other professionals involved in the care of clients and their families.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with clients and families to develop and implement personalized, client-centered objectives with specific, measurable outcomes.
- Deliver client care in partnership with clients and families, planning, executing, and assessing care while documenting the habilitative and rehabilitative processes in accordance with hospital policies.
- Engage with interprofessional care team members and community providers to ensure a cohesive approach to care.
- Integrate evaluative practices into professional duties to guarantee the provision of effective and efficient healthcare.
- Leverage research to establish and uphold evidence-based practices.
- Utilize educational methods to inform clients, families, colleagues, and other professionals about various conditions, both formally and informally.
- Exhibit strong clinical reasoning abilities in assessing and planning interventions with clients and families.
- Provide direct services, consultations, and education to clients, families, and community providers, focusing on enhancing clients' physical capabilities.
- Advocate for and support the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual well-being of patients and their families.
- Adhere to organizational policies and standards as outlined by the regulatory body and hospital guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment, promoting a culture of client safety.
- This role may require flexible working hours to meet program needs, including potential evening and weekend shifts.
- Document in accordance with the standards set by the regulatory body and hospital.
- Manage clinical responsibilities effectively and independently.
- Contribute to the academic mission through education or research, while supporting a safe and healthy work environment.
- Record workload statistics as per the Ministry of Health's guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Current registration with the regulatory body is mandatory.
- Membership in professional associations is advantageous.
- Experience working with children with cerebral palsy or similar neuromotor conditions is beneficial.
- Proficiency in physical therapy assessment and treatment for children and youth with diverse conditions is essential.
- Familiarity with assessment techniques, therapeutic skills, and modalities is required.
- Experience with contemporary outcome measures is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage varying clinical responsibilities effectively.
- Strong communication skills with clients, families, and interprofessional team members are crucial.
- Proven capability to function both independently and as part of an interprofessional team is essential.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development is expected.
- A status appointment in the relevant department at a leading university is an asset.
