Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled labourer to join our team as a fiber optics specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the installation and repair of fiber optic cables, as well as performing other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment and supplies needed for daily work assignments.
  • Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use.
  • Set up worksites, including flagging, opening manholes or services boxes, and operating hydrovac to clean service boxes and/or manholes.
  • Use gas detectors to assess and ensure gas readings are adequate prior to entering manholes.
  • Clean, test, and purge manholes prior to entering.
  • Complete roping and rodding and full circuit of runs.
  • Place yellow spiral wrap on cable for identification of fibre optic cable.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork associated with redline drawings.
  • Complete production reports for submission to clients.
  • Complete timesheets that are both accurate and timely.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment.
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of construction experience.
  • Capable of working in all temperatures and climates and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to travel to various site-based projects if required.
