Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated accounting professional to join our team as an Accounting Supervisor. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for supervising accounting operations, supported by a team of 2 - 4 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the daily accounting operations of Kaizen Lab Inc. and its subsidiaries, with a focus on accounts payable and month end close activities.
  2. Supervise and coach the accounting operations team, including planning work activities, reviewing key outputs, and coordinating cross-training.
  3. Prepare complex journal entries, including accruals and intercompany entries.
  4. Prepare key accounting outputs such as sales tax filings and account reconciliations.
  5. Review accounts payable details, coordinate bill coding and payment runs.
  6. Administer the AI-enabled accounts payable system and manage related automated and manual processes.
  7. Lead cost control for the company, including reviewing actual spending vs. budgets, maintaining policies on purchase approvals, and identifying opportunities for savings.
  8. Support the administration of the QuickBooks Desktop and Online financial systems, maintaining charts of accounts and other master data.
  9. Develop, maintain and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ASPE and strong internal controls.
  10. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and automation.
  11. Support and lead special projects.

Requirements

  1. 2+ years of experience as a Senior Accountant or Junior Manager or a similar role.
  2. 3+ years of combined experience in full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
  3. Qualified or pursuing a Canadian CPA and knowledgeable of ASPE and/or IFRS standards.
  4. Intermediate or higher Excel skills and experience using Excel for analysis.
  5. Strong experience with accounting software and systems, such as acting in administrator or super-user roles, including QuickBooks and Salesforce.
  6. Experience working across departments to drive process improvement and automation.
