Operations Manager – Land Development and Municipal Engineering
WSP is in search of an Operations Manager to enhance our Land Development and Municipal Engineering (LDME) team, operating from our Windsor office, with options for hybrid work arrangements.
Leveraging your extensive knowledge of the local development sector, municipal bodies, and regulatory frameworks, you will lead a skilled team and be accountable for:
- Team building and leadership,
- Business growth initiatives, and
- Project execution and delivery.
The LDME team at WSP is a cohesive and collaborative unit that values enduring relationships with numerous developers, municipalities, townships, cities, and regions throughout Ontario and Canada.
By collaborating with various internal disciplines at WSP, the team is tasked with managing both small-scale and intricate projects in Land Development, overseeing the entire project lifecycle from initial planning and design to construction management and client transition.
As the Operations Manager, your role will encompass leadership and strategic expansion, staff development, client relations, business growth, and project management for the Southwest Ontario area. You will foster partnerships both within the organization and externally, playing a crucial role in formulating and implementing project delivery strategies. You will oversee the financial and technical dimensions of all projects throughout their lifecycle, from early phases, proposals, and business development efforts to managing engineering, design, approvals, and providing support for contract administration and construction.
A typical day includes:
- Strategic planning to enhance WSP's market presence in Land Development and Municipal Engineering
- Building and nurturing the local team in Windsor
- Developing and mentoring team members
- Engaging in business development with current and prospective clients, and facilitating cross-selling opportunities with other WSP disciplines (including proposal and service contract preparation)
- Overseeing project management to ensure alignment with client expectations and WSP standards;
- Acting as a liaison between clients and approving authorities for project approvals;
- Managing the financial aspects of projects;
- Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications for success at WSP ...
- Over 10 years of experience in a consulting role with a focus on land development projects in Windsor;
- Significant project management experience in land development and municipal engineering;
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Ontario;
- In-depth understanding of the land development approval processes in Ontario, particularly in the Windsor region;
- Exceptional client management abilities with strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Robust financial and project management expertise;
- Possession of a valid driver's license in Ontario;
- A well-established network within the land development sector;
