Drilling Shop Technician

Nisku, Alberta, Canada Cathedral Energy Services Full time

The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling, moving, loading, and unloading materials at our Nisku facility. This role plays a crucial part in meeting our obligations to clients by ensuring efficient shipping and receiving of downhole tool equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading, relocating parts, tools, and equipment through efficient and safe work practices
  • Verifying shipping and receiving documents to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Labelling, counting, weighing, sorting, packing, and unpacking materials
  • Identifying components of downhole drilling tools and fulfilling tool lists and shipping manifests
  • Matching tool connections to ensure correct thread and all parts match requisition details
  • Cleaning components of downhole drilling tools and equipment using pressure washers, power wire brushes, and angle grinders
  • Assisting with pick-up and delivery of local parts using a light-duty truck
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment in the shop and yard area

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving, counting, and accurately tracking inventory and products
  • Strong organizational skills and experience in keeping equipment, tools, and inventory organized, efficient, and stored safely
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience working with power tools and performing basic maintenance activities
  • Ability to follow safe work practices, standard operating procedures, and policies
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License and good driving record is preferred
  • Experience operating a forklift, overhead cranes, and precision instruments is preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment and comply with pre-access and site-specific health and safety requirements
  • Display a strong work ethic and reliability
  • Live within close proximity to Nisku, AB, and be ready and available to work extra hours as needed
