Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Canacre. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of environmental sustainability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide regulatory guidance and oversight of activities associated with construction projects under Ontario Regulation 409/19, Excess Soils, Ontario Regulation 387/04, Permit to Take Water and Ontario Regulation 153/04 Records of Site Condition.
  • Prepare required assessments and reports as a Qualified Person (QP) to meet regulatory requirements and complete filings and registrations with Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.
  • Prepare drainage assessments, discharge management plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and stormwater management plans to meet regulatory requirements in Ontario.
  • Manage the technical, schedule and budget aspects of QP services on projects.
  • Act as a resource in the field for projects when required.
  • Provide peer review of technical reports, lab analyses and other supporting documentation.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering, Geology, or related field of study.
  • Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist designation in Ontario is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in Environmental Engineering in Ontario.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations including Ontario Regulation 409/19, Excess Soils, Ontario Regulation 387/04, Permit to Take Water and Ontario Regulation 153/04 Records of Site Condition.
  • Knowledge of managing contaminated sites and soils, as well as risk assessment and remediation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – data collection and interpretation, technical report writing, regulatory permit applications, client communications, etc.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, prioritizing and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build strong, lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Driver's License, with ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier.
  • Qualified Person (QP) in Ontario.
