Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Front Office & Housekeeping Manager or their designate, your duties will include:
- Ensuring seamless operations of the Front Office or Housekeeping Department in the absence of the Manager.
- Acting as a role model for service excellence and standards within the teams.
- Enforcing hotel policies and procedures among the Front Office & Housekeeping staff.
- Leading the department by motivating and mentoring team members.
- Identifying training needs and facilitating appropriate training sessions.
- Managing departmental budgets and expenses effectively.
- Overseeing guest registration and check-out processes, including payment processing.
- Supporting team training on systems, security, cash handling, and service standards.
- Encouraging teamwork and quality service through effective communication with other departments.
- Maintaining accurate room status information and ensuring proper communication.
- Resolving guest issues promptly and courteously.
- Exercising sound judgment and attention to detail under pressure.
- Ensuring confidentiality of guest information and hotel operations.
- Maintaining security of guest room access and hotel property.
- Establishing and training standards for cleanliness and safety in the housekeeping department.
- Working to achieve high cleanliness scores in inspections.
- Developing and maintaining a deep cleaning schedule and room cleanliness program.
- Conducting inspections of guest rooms cleaned by staff.
- Implementing an inspection program for public areas and guest rooms to uphold maintenance standards.
- Finalizing inspections of all housekeeping duties performed by the team.
- Assisting with scheduling, payroll, coaching, performance management, hiring, and training of all Front Office & Housekeeping team members.
- Complying with health and safety regulations and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Acting as a health and safety leader on the property.
- Performing additional duties as assigned, including assisting team members during peak periods.
Qualifications:
- Prior supervisory experience in a customer-facing or hospitality role is preferred.
- Experience in housekeeping supervision within a hotel or related field.
- Post-secondary education in Tourism or Hospitality is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging with guests, visitors, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining composure.
- Demonstrated capability to collaborate in a team environment across various departments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Capacity to think clearly in pressure situations and focus on details.
- Physical stamina to perform job duties effectively.
- Proficiency in property operating systems and MS Office applications is advantageous.
- Experience in financial management for a housekeeping department is beneficial.
- Experience in a unionized environment is a plus.
- A positive attitude is essential.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Salary: $20.40 per hour
