This position plays a crucial role in the success of the Agricultural division within the Business Banking sector in Canada. It ensures that specific individual objectives, plans, and initiatives are effectively executed in alignment with the team's business strategies and goals, while adhering to governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
The Agricultural Banking Consultant is tasked with driving profitable sales of both credit and non-credit products to agricultural clients and prospects within Business Banking. This includes the proactive development of a robust network of referral sources through strategic community engagement within a designated territory. In this capacity, you will cultivate and enhance valuable client borrowing relationships, typically ranging from $1MM to $3MM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively seek and establish relationships with potential high-value small business clients and centers of influence (COIs), with specific targets for new customer acquisition.
- Foster and maintain connections with Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Agricultural Account Managers, and Wealth Partners to ensure a coordinated market approach to Agricultural Services in your territory.
- Develop new agricultural client relationships through participation in industry events and by building rapport with local farmers, agricultural businesses, and COIs.
- Manage and grow a designated portfolio in collaboration with your Agriculture Market Lead, focusing on servicing and conducting annual reviews for assigned clients.
- Address the unique needs of businesses in the agricultural sector by aligning sales, products, risk policies, and market strategies to deliver tailored solutions.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Canadian Agriculture, either through education or professional background.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong understanding of business financial statements, particularly within the agricultural sector.
- Familiarity with competitor offerings and alternative financing sources.
- Awareness of economic conditions and political factors impacting small businesses, especially in agriculture.
- Demonstrated success in sales, marketing, and business development.
- Ability to cultivate and sustain key relationships, with strong influencing and persuasion skills.
- Capability to serve as a trusted advisor by identifying client challenges and proposing comprehensive solutions.

This role involves significant travel to conduct sales and marketing activities, including visits to customer farms and participation in trade shows and events. A valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle are required, with mileage reimbursement provided.
