Position: Nuclear Medicine PET Technologist

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical PET/CT imaging, including selecting suitable imaging protocols, positioning patients, executing image acquisition, and performing data reconstruction for physician interpretation.
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by thoroughly explaining the process, addressing any questions, and securing informed consent prior to commencement.
  • Execute technical duties such as correlating clinical histories with examinations, recording baseline vital signs, establishing venous access for radiotracer injections, monitoring blood glucose levels, and administering the appropriate radiotracer.
  • Ensure patient safety throughout procedures by monitoring vital signs and observing for any signs of distress, responding to emergencies in line with facility protocols, and being prepared to perform CPR if necessary.
  • Operate PET and CT equipment in accordance with established standards and protocols.

Qualifications

  • Certification from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
  • A minimum of three years of recent experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Completion of a formal PET/CT education program, such as the CAMRT PET/CT certificate or equivalent training and experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiarity with Nuclear Medicine procedures, radiopharmacy, and radiation safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in operating PET/CT cameras and related software applications.
  • Understanding of research methodologies and processes.
  • Strong patient care skills applicable to individuals of all ages.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment and clinical information systems.

  • Awareness of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action and related reports.
  • Dedication to fostering meaningful reconciliation efforts in Canada.
  • Understanding of the socio-economic and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities, along with familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety principles.
