Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing our quality control processes and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of food safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Quality Control Processes
    • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of our quality control processes, including HACCP, GMP, and other relevant standards.
    • Ensure that all food safety and quality assurance activities comply with local, provincial, and international regulations.
  • Manage Quality Assurance Team
    • Lead the QA team in monitoring and enforcing quality control processes throughout the food production cycle.
    • Train and mentor QA staff on best practices, food safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
  • Implement Process Improvements
    • Identify areas for process improvement within the production line and work collaboratively with the production supervisor and other departments to implement changes.
    • Develop and oversee product testing procedures, including microbiological testing, to ensure that all products meet safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance
    • Prepare for and manage internal and external audits, ensuring that all quality systems and processes are documented and maintained according to industry standards.
    • Ensure that all quality assurance practices align with health and safety protocols, contributing to a safe working environment.
  • Investigate and Resolve Quality-Related Incidents
    • Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Lead the response to quality-related incidents or product recalls, ensuring that all actions are taken swiftly and effectively to protect consumers and the company's reputation.
  • Lead Joint Health and Safety Committee
    • Serve as the lead for the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), guiding and coordinating with other JHSC members to enhance safety measures in the workplace and address any safety concerns proactively.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance within the federal licensed food processing industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Certifications
    • HACCP certification is required; additional certifications such as SQF, BRC, or ISO 22000 are preferred.
  • Skills
    • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and standards, including FDA, USDA, and HACCP, GMP.
    • Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
    • Proficiency in using quality management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
