POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Reconciliation & Equity Strategies, the Senior Consultant is tasked with the critical role of formulating and executing strategies that resonate with the Commission's core business objectives. This position emphasizes collaboration with community stakeholders to ensure alignment with their needs while supporting the Commission's overarching goals.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in directing and managing business strategies, project oversight, and communications, particularly in public sector environments.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including Indigenous communities and other marginalized groups, while applying principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Significant experience in incorporating diverse perspectives into decision-making processes through advanced equity analysis.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the employer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • In-depth understanding of institutional and structural biases and their effects on underrepresented communities.
  • Strong familiarity with the affordable housing sector within British Columbia.
  • Ability to comprehend departmental policies and the Commission's mission and programs.
  • High level of self-awareness, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
  • Capacity to generate innovative ideas and effectively coordinate their implementation.
  • Proficient in managing project teams, exercising sound judgment, and handling sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify issues and conflicts in policies and procedures, with an emphasis on an intersectional approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects from conception to completion while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Skilled in fostering rapport with staff, management, and various stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills across various mediums, with a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and effective organizational skills.
  • Proficient in leadership, communication, presentation, and interpersonal relations.
