Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting firm as a staff accountant and be pursuing or have obtained a CPA designation. The successful candidate will have experience with CaseWare and be proficient in taxation/statutory compliance engagements.
Key Responsibilities- Complete audit, review, compilation, or other assignments (start-to-finish) including performing client fieldwork as necessary.
- Perform assessments of internal controls, reporting/advising management teams on key risk exposures.
- Complete taxation/statutory compliance engagements as required (T1, T2, T2 NIL, T3, T4, T5, T5013 etc.), and respond to audit inquiries.
- Assist with CRA audits.
- Assist with bookkeeping engagements as required.
- Train, supervise, and mentor junior/co-op accounting staff members.
- Build detailed financial models and perform sensitivity analysis (asset/cash flow continuity, valuations, budgeting, etc.) as required.
- Proactively assist in the management of several client relationships, while reporting to managers and above.
- Understand objectives for clients and the firm, aligning work to objectives, and individually managing priorities.
- Assist with ad-hoc client engagements and attend/participate in meetings with clients and their advisors.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting firm as a staff accountant.
- Pursuing or have obtained a CPA designation.
- Experience with CaseWare is a must.
- Experience with Profile, Tax Prep, or Tax Cycle, and Jazz It is an asset.
- A self-starter, collaborator, and excellent communication skills.
