Job Overview:

Under the guidance of the Access Transit Supervisor, this role encompasses a variety of tasks essential for the effective provision of specialized transportation services for individuals with unique needs.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Process booking inquiries through various communication channels including phone, email, and fax.
  • Organize, modify, and cancel customer requests to ensure optimal trip efficiency.
  • Relay real-time updates to drivers regarding schedule changes using advanced communication technology.
  • Oversee the engagement of third-party transportation services as necessary.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers, drivers, transit team members, and healthcare professionals.
  • Enhance trip schedules to maximize resource utilization on a daily basis.
  • Keep customer records updated by entering and amending data as needed.
  • Provide accurate information regarding policies and procedures as required.
  • Coordinate emergency responses in the event of accidents or road incidents.
  • Ensure precise trip documentation and monitor performance metrics.
  • Assist in the training and onboarding of new personnel.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 12 with three years of progressively responsible experience in scheduling, dispatching, and customer service within the transportation sector, particularly with individuals with disabilities.
  • Alternatively, a one-year business program with two years of relevant experience may be considered.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in modern office practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the geography of the service area is advantageous.
  • Understanding of scheduling and dispatching protocols.
  • Ability to manage cash transactions in accordance with established practices.
  • Capacity to make informed decisions based on established guidelines.
  • Empathy towards the transportation needs of individuals with disabilities and the elderly.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Competence in managing and safeguarding various databases.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues and manage conflicts constructively.
  • Capability to maintain positive working relationships with the public, professionals, colleagues, and officials.
  • Proficient in using computers for word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.

Work Hours:

20 hours per week


Compensation:

Hourly wage ranging from $29.52 to $30.29 CAD (2023 rates)
