Mechanical Operations Specialist

As a vital member of the Maintenance division, the Operations Technician plays a crucial role under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor. This position is centered around executing repairs and diagnosing issues related to mechanical and associated systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts repairs that necessitate an in-depth understanding of pumps, valves, electric and pneumatic actuators, motors, gears, hydraulics, mechanical drives, speed reducers, and other related apparatus.
- Engages in troubleshooting various mechanical and associated systems, providing recommendations for repair or replacement strategies.
- Interprets Operating & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, diagrams, schematics, and blueprints, suggesting necessary revisions.
- Organizes and collaborates with external contractors during maintenance or repair activities, ensuring completed work adheres to Regional Standards and industry best practices.
- Responds to urgent equipment malfunctions, diagnosing issues, identifying required resources, and coordinating repairs or contractor assistance.
- Offers support to the Region's Special Project Group, aiding in project execution and the commissioning of equipment.
- Fosters positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors through effective collaboration, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to document all work performed, source equipment parts, track equipment history, and update work status as necessary.
- Performs welding, pipe fitting, and rigging tasks as needed, along with other assigned duties.
- Ensures compliance with Safety Standards and all relevant codes.
- Adheres to the Quality Management System requirements, including IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.
- Complies with Johnson Electric's policies and procedures.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma with a valid Certificate of Apprenticeship.
- Possession of a valid Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) in good standing with the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities.
- Preferred three to five (3-5) years of hands-on experience.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, EAM Computerized Maintenance Management System, and other computerized systems is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols as mandated by the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Ability to comprehend equipment manufacturers' schematic drawings for equipment installation and repairs, along with interpreting design drawings to validate proposed work.
Work Environment (including Physical Demands):
- Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, inadequate lighting, and materials associated with the manufacturing of powered metal components, along with exposure to metalworking fluids, temperature variations, and weather extremes requiring specialized protective gear.
- Physical requirements include climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, crouching for extended periods, and maneuvering tools, materials, and equipment throughout the facility.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Participation in a continental 12-hour shift rotation, including both day and night shifts.
