Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team at Egis Canada. As an Intermediate Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and executing various structural projects. Your primary duties will involve ensuring that structures meet safety standards, codes, and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare engineering service proposals for senior review and approval;
  • Perform field inspections and reviews for various construction projects;
  • Liaise with clients, government agencies, and contractors to ensure project success;
  • Lead the engineering design and manage project teams, schedules, and budgets;
  • Provide technical direction and peer review for junior team members;
  • Design and stamp medium to complex designs;
  • Prepare specifications and drawings for building permits and tenders;
  • Maintain a technical advisory role for clients throughout the project term;
  • Oversee and provide construction review services;
  • Prepare technical specifications and reports;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project delivery;
  • Work in compliance with all Health & Safety rules and regulations;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion of a university degree in Structural Engineering;
  • At least 5 years of design experience on structural engineering projects;
  • Experience with residential light timber design is an asset;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, in good standing or the ability to obtain designation within 6 months;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer within the Province of Quebec is considered an asset;
  • Familiarity with Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada and Canadian design standards;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, and Revit;
  • Experience with structural finite element engineering design software such as SFRAME, ETABS, SAP, Woodworks, etc.;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Ability to communicate in French is considered an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, time management, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team;
  • Possess a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
