Job Summary

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled Security Locksmith to join our team. As a Security Locksmith, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and procedures related to locks and doors, as well as the Restricted Key System of Manitoba Housing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair locks and doors to ensure secure access to Manitoba Housing properties.
  • Manage and maintain the Restricted Key System, ensuring that all keys are properly accounted for and that access is restricted to authorized personnel.
  • Collaborate with Property Managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that security protocols are followed and that any issues are addressed promptly.
  • Develop and implement procedures and policies related to locks and doors, ensuring that they are in line with Manitoba Housing's guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide training and support to staff on security protocols and procedures.

Requirements

  • Extensive work experience as a practicing locksmith, including cutting keys, pinning locks, repairing/ replacing doors and hardware, and writing key bidding sheets/master and sub-master key systems.
  • Experience with electronic security systems, including integration with card access, intercoms, and alarms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce written materials such as reports, manuals, and procedures.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust and develop positive working relationships.
  • Proficient in Excel and experience with MS Office Suite Applications (Word, Outlook, and MS Teams).

Working Conditions

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5F Driver's license.
  • Must be able to work overtime and on weekends as required.
