Job Title: District Teacher - Carpentry Program

Join School District #62 (Sooke) in a unique opportunity to teach and mentor students in a dual credit trades awareness program.

The Trades Awareness, Skills and Knowledge Carpentry Program (C-TASK Program) is a collaborative effort between School District #62 (Sooke) and Camosun College South Island Partnership.

As a District Teacher - Carpentry Program, you will team teach with a college instructor two days a week, coordinating industry certification sessions and leading field excursions to experience local trades sites and craftspeople.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide theoretical classroom instruction and practical application of building construction methods in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and drywall.
  • Collaborate with the college instructor to deliver a comprehensive trades awareness program.
  • Coordinate industry certification sessions and lead field excursions to local trades sites and craftspeople.
  • Develop and implement differentiated instruction in a classroom and advisory environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or Post Degree Program in Education (Secondary)
  • Red Seal Certificate - Journeyperson Carpentry or Construction Craft Worker or related academic preparation

We offer a competitive salary range of $58,635 to $106,217, based on length of service and qualifications, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and pension.
