IT Operations Supervisor

Join the District School Board of Niagara as an IT Operations Supervisor and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our technology infrastructure. As a member of our Information Technology Services Department, you will be responsible for leading and managing the work of our IT staff, overseeing the maintenance and deployment of computer hardware, software, and networking systems, and providing technical support to our schools and Board sites.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring reliable technology supports the Board's learning objectives and business requirements.
- Oversee the coordination, prioritization, and execution of projects, including assigning tasks, tracking progress, and communicating updates to stakeholders.
- Work with staff to enhance and implement operational practices and procedures within the department.
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of computer technicians and IT staff assigned under direct supervision.
- Stay updated on current technologies, applications, and best practices related to educational and administrative needs.
- Investigate, recommend, and establish training and professional development opportunities for IT staff.
- Manage service level agreements with Board-approved technology vendors.
- Direct the evaluation of new technology for integration with the Board system architecture.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology.
- Establish standards and manage quality assurance in the delivery of IT services.
- A minimum 3-year CAAT diploma in a technical discipline or combination of post-secondary education and equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Technology or Computer Science related fields.
- Strong understanding of hardware, software, networking, and infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
- Experience working in a K-12 educational environment is preferred.
- Management or supervisor certifications in Information Technology Services is preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated abilities in customer service, negotiation, leadership, time management, technical expertise, and risk management.
We offer a comprehensive benefit plan and a competitive salary range of $86,355 - $100,976. This is a full-time, 12-month position based in-person (35 hours per week) and is part of our union-exempt Administrative Management Group.
