As a Clinical Nurse Mentor (RN/RPN), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the capabilities of nursing staff within our organization. This position focuses on providing guidance and support to nurses, ensuring they deliver high-quality care to clients in a variety of settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with team leaders to identify and prioritize learning objectives for nursing staff based on comprehensive assessments of their educational needs.
- Facilitate professional development by exemplifying best nursing practices and competencies, while promoting skill enhancement and clinical judgment.
- Offer clinical support and mentorship, guiding nurses in applying nursing processes and adhering to practice standards.
- Contribute to clinical education initiatives by helping to define skill development priorities and supporting mentorship programs.
- Utilize your expertise to provide ongoing coaching and feedback, fostering critical thinking and ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines.
Qualifications
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the appropriate regulatory body.
- A minimum of three years of experience in psychiatric nursing, with a focus on acute or community care, and a background in mentoring.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle may be necessary.
Skills and Knowledge
- Proven ability to deliver clinical mentorship that is evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and centered on patient and family needs.
- Strong understanding of nursing standards and practices relevant to the client population.
- Knowledge of change management principles as they relate to clinical initiatives.
- Ability to provide effective consultation and leadership within a nursing context.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and understanding of reconciliation principles and Indigenous rights.
